Department Manager (Effingham, IL)

Location: 1001 Ave of Mid America Ste 1 – Effingham, IL 62401

Salary Range: $18.00 – $27.40 per hour

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the Heart of House, Bar, or Hospitality Department, including staff planning, training, and performance management.
• Manage staffing, recruiting, orientation, and ongoing development of department team members to meet or exceed staffing guidelines.
• Create and maintain weekly departmental schedules within labor budget constraints.
• Develop and implement incentive programs, contests, and other motivational activities to enhance team engagement.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health regulations, and company policies across all department activities.
• Control inventory, monitor food and beverage costs, and maintain P&L objectives for the department.
• Utilize Guest Experience Management (GEM) and other tools to gather guest feedback, address complaints, and improve service quality.
• Coordinate with other department managers on hiring decisions, training initiatives, and guest experience programs.
• Administer weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews, develop action plans, and monitor outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
• Assist the General Manager with coaching, strategic operational initiatives, and local marketing efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of restaurant or hospitality management experience, with experience managing a full bar preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license and successful background check required.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics and restaurant management systems.
• Completion of the Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program (required).
• Highly motivated, self‑directed, results‑driven, and willing to work late nights and weekends.
