Overview
NaphCare is hiring a Dentist to join our team of medical professionals in the Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs, AL.
As a Correctional Dentist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.
Existing YesCare employees working at the Alabama DOC Facilities do not need to apply. You will be contacted directly by a NaphCare representative.
Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients.
- Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations.
- Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed patient dental records.
- Collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients' oral health needs.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or equivalent.
- Experience in clinical dentistry and correctional settings preferred.
- Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located.
- Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Current DEA registration.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
- Pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
