Required Qualifications
Skill Required/Desired Years of Experience
Current unrestricted Indiana dental license Required
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited institution Required
Current CPR certification Required
General dentistry (exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, crowns) Required 2+ years
Geriatric dentistry and age-related oral health conditions (dry mouth, root caries, periodontal disease) Required 2+ years
CDC & OSHA infection control standards, including PPE, hand hygiene, and disposal of single-use items Required 2+ years
Compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, ISDH, and VA guidelines Required 2+ years
Dental implants and prosthodontics Desired
Experience in a VA, military, or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Highly Desired
Sedation dentistry or treating patients with physical/cognitive disabilities Highly Desired

Position Overview
The provider delivers onsite dental care for an adult and geriatric patient population in a long-term care setting, with an emphasis on age-related oral health conditions.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive oral examinations and initial assessments.
Interpret portable dental radiographs.
Develop individualized oral care plans.
Perform fluoride treatments, cleanings, fillings, periodontal therapy, extractions, and denture repairs or relines.
Prescribe antibiotics and analgesics as clinically appropriate.
Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary medical staff, including medication-related oral health concerns such as xerostomia and polypharmacy.
Complete standardized oral health assessments to support regulatory compliance.
Educate nursing and caregiving staff on daily oral hygiene practices for patients with cognitive or physical impairments.
