Brief Description
Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Dentist will perform quality and comprehensive dental diagnosis and treatment to maintain the overall health of the patient. This work supports the mission and goals of Betances Health Center.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school accredited by the ADA (DDS or DMD)
- Licensed to practice dentistry in New York State
- Two years of experience preferred in civilian, military, or a public health dental practice
- Bilingual preferred
- DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served
- Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients and co-workers
- Demonstrates teamwork, contributes to improving outcomes, works well with others; provides feedback in a respectful manner
- Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity
Summary
The minimum scope of service that is expected to be provided by all dentists at our clinical site includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Diagnostic
- Clinical examination, including soft tissue, hard tissue, periodontal, and head and neck growth development assessment
- Diagnose radiographs
Preventive / Periodontics
- Prophylaxis
- Fluoride therapy
- Nutritional assessment and counseling
- Plaque control (OHI)
- Sealants
- Periodontal therapy (Scaling/Root Planing)
Restorative
- Amalgam restorations
- Composite/resin restorations
- Preventive resin restoration
Endodontics
- Therapeutic endodontic treatment (pulpotomy, pulpectomy, pulp cap)
- Root Canals (anterior, premolar)
Oral Surgery
- Simple extractions
Prosthodontics
- Fixed (single tooth crowns)
- Removable (complete dentures, partial dentures, nightguards)
