Summary

This position is a Dentist located at the Naytahwaush Health Center in Naytahwaush, MN. The position reports to the Chief Dentist or Designee.

This is an Open Continuous Announcement; applications will be referred when vacancies occur.

Frequent travel to the White Earth Service unit to complete dental tasks may be required.

Duties

  • Performs all facets of general dentistry on patients of all ages.
  • Manages significantly medically-compromised patients, consulting with physicians and specialists as necessary.
  • Performs thorough documentation in medical and dental electronic health records.
  • Keeps abreast of current standards of care by attending in-person CDE courses annually and completing online trainings and webinars.
  • Evaluates dental assistant's performance and provides real-time feedback; performs competencies and performance evaluations.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Must pass pre-employment examination.
  • Subject to a probationary period.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must have a viable bank account for direct deposit.
  • Must not have been convicted of certain crimes related to contact with Indian children.
  • Measles and Rubella immunization required for those born after 1957; seasonal influenza immunization required for all staff.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required prior to entry on duty.
  • Frequent travel to White Earth Service unit may be required.
  • Must obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges.
  • Successfully pass E-Verify employment verification.

Background Investigation

Pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation are required. Continued employment depends on the outcome of these checks.

Qualifications

This is an open continuous announcement; applications are accepted throughout the year and considered as vacancies occur. Your resume will be retained for three months.

To qualify, your experience and/or education must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Basic Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from an accredited school.
  • Passed the National Board Dental Examinations and hold a current, unrestricted dental license.

Experience

One or more full years of professional dentistry experience at the GS-12 level or above, involving evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral diseases.

Additional Requirements for GS-12

Completion of a 2-year residency or equivalent experience/training.

Education

Must submit transcripts or course list; only degrees from accredited institutions are credited.

  • Additional selection may occur within 90 days.
  • Federal benefits and leave accrue as per regulations.
  • Promotion potential to GS-12; promotion at management's discretion.
