VA Black Hills is seeking a Dentist for the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. The General Practice Dental Officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective‑restorative‑or preventive measures.
Responsibilities and Duties

- Functions of Assigned Duties: The General Dentistry dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services
- Specifically—the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following: conduct oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and provide interpretation of imaging; review medical history and apply knowledge to patient management
- Diagnoses pathological or irregular oral conditions
- Performs treatment planning—including multi-step, complex plans—with input from specialists as needed
- Administers local anesthesia and nitrous oxide
- Performs routine and complex restoration of teeth
- Performs routine extractions and other surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist
- Performs prosthetic dentistry, including immediate dentures, full and partial dentures, crowns and fixed bridge work
- Performs routine dental implant restorations
- Performs routine endodontic procedures on single and multi‑canal teeth
- Performs routine periodontal procedures
