Our innovative in‑school dental program offers something different than a traditional dental practice. With a workday that ends with the school day and no nights or weekends, it is ideal for dentists looking to supplement their current income, working parents, recent graduates, those nearing retirement, or anyone who wants to make a difference in the dental field.

Dentist Qualifications

• DMD or DDS degree
• Ability to work well with both children and adults
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel daily to/from school sites
• Computer literate

Big Smiles Offers

• Evenings, weekends, and summers off
• School‑day schedule (about 6–7 hours; typically 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
• Benefit package (health, dental, vision)
• Unique work experience and flexible scheduling
• Full‑time and part‑time positions available
• $650–$750 a day
• State‑of‑the‑art portable dental equipment
• Latest technology and digital radiography

Big Smiles is the nation’s leading in‑school dental program, founded almost two decades ago by two mom‑dentists. The program was created to meet the tremendous need for dental care among underserved school‑aged children who lacked easy access to treatment and suffered from poor oral hygiene, tooth decay, pain, and related medical problems. We bring oral health services directly to schools, delivering preventive and restorative care to approximately 500,000 children per year.

By partnering with state‑licensed dentists, hygienists, and assistants and using state‑of‑the‑art portable equipment, we transform classrooms, auditoriums, and other school venues into fully functional dental offices. Today, Big Smiles operates in 20 states and partners with over 8,000 school districts, including 21 of the 25 largest districts in the country.
