Pediatric experience highly preferred.Complete Description:FL-DOH-Marion County-Dental Assistant Position: Pay Rate: $21.31/hr / Vendor Rate: $27.70/hr WORK SCHEDULE: Ability for flexible days. Work FT or 2-3 days a week. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Marion County Health Department or alternating school site locations.

DRESS CODE: Scrubs TRAVEL: 10% of the time. May be assigned to a school site. Can ride with a state employee in a state vehicle.

Normally will be an elementary school. Will be at the school for the entire day, not travel required during business hours. EQUIPMENT USED: EagleSoft computer software, autoclave, dental equipment JOB DESCRIPTION:DENTAL TREATMENT:Expanded duties as licensed by the board of professional regulations for certified dental assistantWill polish clinical crowns of teethWill apply topical fluoride gels and varnishWill place temporary restorations and sealantsWill remove suturesWill fabricate temporary crowns, pack cord and cement temporary crownsFOUR HANDED DENTAL TECHNIQUE:Will review medical history with the patient/guardian and take blood pressureWill complete the signs and symptoms and objective data of the SOAP notes and write up in the computer notesWill use proper barrier techniquesWill pass instruments while correctly retracting tongue and/or cheek and while suctioningWill coordinate assisting methods, activities and actions with dentists actionsWill adjust equipment and light source as needed by dentistWill mix restorative materials and cementsPROPER OPERATORY SETUP:Will ensure instruments and equipment are out and in place before patient arrivesMust be able to lift at least 10 poundsRADIOGRAPHS:Will maintain radiographic certification as licensed by the Board of Professional RegulationsWill use ScanX phosphoric plates and EagleSoft softwareSTERILIZATION:Will properly clean and sterilize instruments following dental clinic proceduresWill clean autoclave and clean the disinfect counters and environmental surfacesSKILLS/EDUCATION NEEDED:Florida Dental Radiology CertificateFL Dental Expanded Duty CertificateFL drivers licenseCurrent/active CPR certificateMust have a working knowledge of standard dental procedures, techniques and material used in the dental clinicMust have a working knowledge of OSHA standards, dental infection control and hazardous dental materialsMust have a positive, helpful attitude toward dental director, dentist, students, staff, patients and their familiesMust have the ability to enter information into EagleSoft electronic oral health recordBilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferredPediatric experience highly preferred
