Position Summary:
The Deli Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, packaging, and stocking deli products. This role ensures food safety compliance, maintains a clean and organized work area, and supports the deli team in meeting production and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Customer Service:
* Greet customers promptly and courteously.
* Assist with product selection and answer questions about ingredients, preparation, and specials.
* Food Preparation & Handling:
* Prepare sandwiches, salads, and hot deli items according to company recipes and standards.
* Slice meats and cheeses using proper safety techniques.
* Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste.
* Safety & Compliance:
* Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handwashing and glove use.
* Monitor product temperatures and maintain logs as required.
* Stocking & Merchandising:
* Rotate stock to ensure freshness and reduce shrink.
* Maintain attractive displays and signage for deli products.
* Cleaning & Maintenance:
* Keep workstations, equipment, and floors clean and sanitized throughout the shift.
* Assist with closing duties, including cleaning slicers, counters, and fryers.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* Previous deli or food service experience is a plus.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
* Fast-paced convenience store setting.
* Interaction with customers, deli staff, and store management.
* Exposure to food prep and refrigerated areas.
