Pension Consulting PartnerCloser to consulting/client-facing work than a reserving cycle role—the ad serves multiple small-plan clients through consultants rather than one recurring valuation book.Senior Retirement actuarial role in Sacramento, California, supporting defined benefit, cash balance, and DB/DC plans. You'll complete and review valuations, compliance testing, plan design, regulatory filings, and plan-termination work while partnering with consultants serving small-plan clients. The position may be performed remotely or from the Sacramento or Chico office, subject to business needs and approval.RequirementsMust have:Minimum 5 years experience in the pension industryStrongly preferred:Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math or math-related fieldEnrolled Actuary designation (or currently studying for final exam)Strong verbal/written communication, analytical, & critical thinking skillsDemonstrated expertise with Microsoft and valuation applicationsProficiency reviewing/certifying/completing annual funding valuations for owner-only clients and plans with <100 livesStrong working knowledge of pension plan testing regulations (401(a)(26), 401(a)(4), 410(b), top-heavy, 404 deductibility)Experience running complex plan design proposals and cost studiesSkill in reviewing plan documents and amendmentsKnowledge of PBGC covered plans (coverage determination, annual premium filings, termination complexities)Experience completing/reviewing Schedule SB forms, AFTAPs, Annual Funding NoticesSkill performing plan termination calculations and assisting with wind-down strategyProficiency with IRC Section 415 requirementsAbility to integrate all above to support consultants providing high-quality serviceNice to have:FT William experience preferredSkills & Domain:Tools Excel Domain Defined benefit and cash balance plan valuation Compliance testing under IRC Sections 401(a)(4), 410(b), etc. PBGC coverage determination and premium filing Plan termination calculations and wind-down strategy Schedule SB and AFTAP certification
