Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Attorney to join their St. Louis team. The attorney will handle a broad range of civil defense matters and represent clients throughout all stages of litigation.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of defense litigation experience and a strong background in one or more of the firm's key practice areas.

• General Liability
• Insurance Defense
• Trucking Litigation
• Medical Malpractice
• Professional Liability
• Personal Injury Defense
• Civil Litigation

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil defense litigation matters.
• Represent clients in litigation proceedings from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and other parties.
• Participate in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Analyze claims, defenses, liability, and damages.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in civil defense litigation.
• Strong experience handling one or more of the practice areas listed above.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters and caseloads.
• Strong case-management and organizational skills.
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri.

Work Environment

The position will begin with an initial 90-day training/probationary period. Following successful completion of this period, hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available.
