Dean of Admissions, Alpha – $250,000/year USD

Remote Full Time Other

Families who select Alpha Miami rely on trusted advisors in nearly every part of their lives. This is the advisor they haven’t had—until now.

You will be the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn’t feel quite right, or when they experience a moment they know you will understand. You will develop familiarity with each family sufficient to sense their needs before they articulate them—and possess the judgment and poise to address what they bring with discretion, warmth, and composure. Over time, you will become more than an administrator at their child’s school. You will become woven into how they experience this stage of their family journey.

The private school landscape in Miami is compact, deeply interconnected, and unforgiving when errors occur. How a family experiences Alpha extends beyond our campus—it circulates through the networks that carry weight: the residential building, the private club, the marina, the philanthropic circuit, the WhatsApp threads that influence where families enroll next. You will grasp this dynamic naturally, because your career has unfolded in environments where reputation serves as the sole currency and one mistake outlives all successes. You will cultivate a community families want to protect, where inclusion feels natural and referrals emerge because the experience merits them.

Miami’s character is inherently global. You will engage with Latin American families, international corporate leaders, finance and technology professionals recently relocated to Miami, and globally mobile households whose relationship with education—and institutions broadly—has been shaped by experiences well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate between Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York as fluidly as others commute locally, and they will compare Alpha to alternatives worldwide. The ideal candidate will be equally adept at navigating cross-cultural family expectations—and the demand for fluent, adaptive relationships—as they are at understanding the established rhythms of Miami private school culture.

Alpha operates outside conventional school models. Students complete core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered applications, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No traditional lectures. No redundant assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally.

Families choosing Alpha have made a deliberate decision—and in a city where opinions are ubiquitous and educational choices signal status, they will face constant questions. You will ensure they never struggle to articulate their choice. If sustaining that conviction through years of sophisticated, internationally informed skepticism feels burdensome, this position is not for you. If it represents the most compelling dialogue you could engage in, continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Shape the cultural fabric of the school community—the tone, rituals, and implicit expectations that foster belonging—so Alpha becomes a place families take pride in, not merely a school they selected
  • Manage the parent relationship comprehensively—from initial contact through enrollment, retention, and sustained advocacy—so teaching staff remain student-focused and families consistently have a trusted contact
  • Detect early when something feels misaligned, and address it with discretion and judgment that preserves confidence—including the more difficult discernment of recognizing when a family is not the right match
  • Maintain visibility where families gather: morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, evening functions, and the spontaneous exchanges that hold the greatest significance
  • Develop a community that both domestic and international families feel invested in protecting—and where referrals occur because the experience warrants them
  • Communicate Alpha’s narrative persuasively—in individual discussions, at gatherings, and in the settings populated by discerning, internationally oriented families where the school’s standing is truly established

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Operating from an office—your physical presence within the community defines the role
  • Maintaining standard 9–5 schedules—early arrivals, late afternoons, and evening commitments are integral, not occasional
  • Escalating challenging parent discussions to faculty or leadership—you assume full ownership of these interactions
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a built-out team—you function with considerable autonomy and create what is needed
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role values authentic connection over procedural adherence

Dean Of Admissions Key Responsibilities

Serve as the trusted relationship anchoring every family’s experience at Alpha’s Miami campus, and as the architect of the surrounding community culture. Maintain their confidence during difficult moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel meaningful, and foster conditions where satisfied families become active advocates within the networks that influence Miami’s independent school environment.

Basic Requirements

  • 5+ years building and maintaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a high-touch, relationship-centered capacity
  • Demonstrated success guiding sophisticated clients through consequential decisions—with measurable outcomes you can describe: conversion rates, retention figures, referral generation
  • The discretion and composure to navigate sensitive, confidential matters without causing disruption
  • Proven experience managing and developing personnel—providing coaching, maintaining high standards, and executing difficult staffing decisions—beyond relationship or account management
  • Innate cross-cultural fluency spanning globally mobile households and established Miami families
  • AI-first orientation—you employ AI tools with proficiency, understand their strengths and limitations, and proactively identify improved solutions, even if you are not developing them independently
  • Located in Miami, available full-time on campus, and adaptable to flexible scheduling
  • Legally authorized for U.S. employment without requiring sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or in equivalent school leadership capacity
  • Professional-level fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Personal or professional exposure to independent or non-traditional educational models
  • Established connections within Miami’s private school parent communities
  • Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally connected families
  • A personal network extending across the neighborhoods, clubs, and institutions where Alpha’s families reside and make decisions
