Data Center Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) are Amazon Data Center’s front line responders for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This equipment includes stand‑by diesel generators, electrical switchboards, circuit breakers, UPS, PDU, AHU, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. They provide 24/7 shift coverage, including 12‑hour shifts, rotating shifts, and 3‑, 4‑ or 5‑day work weeks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, generators, fire/life safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
  • Perform limited maintenance such as filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, PDU and ATS replacements.
  • Support Data Center Operations technicians.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to off‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation.
  • Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs.
  • Manipulate small wires and objects.

Required physical tasks:

  • Walk job sites in uneven terrain.
  • Work at heights from ladders.
  • Lift or move up to 49 lbs, group lifts for 50 lbs or more.
  • Bend or twist the body into unusual positions.
  • Push or pull heavy objects into position.
  • Work in noisy environments.
  • Work nights, weekends, and non‑standard hours.

Security clearance: Must be a US citizen and currently possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to perform required physical tasks.
  • US citizenship and active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of network design, low‑voltage cabling.
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
