The Data Center Technician Lead serves as the primary on-site lead for a team of remediation technicians while actively participating in daily remediation work. This role combines hands‑on technical responsibilities with project coordination, quality oversight, and team support to ensure remediation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
This is a working lead position. The Lead is expected to spend the majority of their time performing the same remediation work as the technician team while providing on‑site coordination, quality oversight, and communication between project stakeholders and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Perform fiber cable remediation by installing grounding connectors on existing fiber optic links according to established procedures.
- Complete remediation work while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Follow all training, documentation, and established work processes.
- Work across multiple data center buildings within the assigned metro area as needed.
- Safely handle fiber optic cables, connectors, and related hardware.
- Utilize hand tools and approved equipment to complete remediation tasks.
- Accurately document completed work using company systems and tracking tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support additional preventative maintenance or infrastructure‑related activities as directed if project work is completed ahead of schedule.
- Follow all security, safety, and operational procedures while working within the data center.
- Serve as the primary on‑site lead for an assigned team of technicians.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and priorities with site personnel.
- Conduct daily team check‑ins and communicate project goals, expectations, and updates.
- Monitor technician productivity and help ensure daily and weekly project milestones are achieved.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members.
- Assist with onboarding and training new technicians on project‑specific processes and best practices.
- Promote adherence to safety, security, and operational standards.
- Escalate technical issues, staffing concerns, equipment needs, or project risks to project leadership.
- Help resolve day‑to‑day operational challenges to minimize project delays.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety‑focused team environment.
Quality & Project Oversight
- Perform routine quality checks on completed remediation work prior to final validation.
- Ensure documentation and tracking information is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Monitor project progress against daily and weekly production targets.
- Identify recurring issues, process improvement opportunities, and potential project risks.
- Provide regular status updates to project stakeholders and leadership.
- Help ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards and project requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, telecommunications, fiber optics, or infrastructure deployment.
- Previous experience leading small technical teams, crews, or project work.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling best practices and data center environments.
- Experience using basic hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Comfortable learning proprietary processes through hands‑on training.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email and web‑based applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and support team success in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a hyperscale or large‑scale data center environment.
- Familiarity with fiber optic infrastructure and structured cabling installations.
- Experience assembling or servicing server racks and related infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating multiple technicians across large facilities or campuses.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
- Experience tracking project progress and reporting status updates to stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching while working inside equipment rows.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks with precision over extended periods.
- Comfortable working in active data center environments while adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Work will be performed within enterprise data center facilities.
- Travel between multiple campuses within the assigned metro area may be required.
- All project‑specific technical training will be provided.
- Daily work assignments and technical direction will be provided by site personnel.
- The Lead will coordinate closely with project stakeholders and leadership to ensure successful project execution.
- This is a hands‑on leadership role, with the expectation that the Lead performs remediation work alongside the team while providing coordination, communication, and quality oversight.

Location: Columbus, OH
Work Schedule
- Candidates must be flexible to support project deadlines and operational needs.
- Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
- Overtime and extended hours may be required to meet project milestones.
- Flexibility is expected as project start dates may shift based on project requirements and material availability.
