Database & Reporting Manager

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically hands-on Database & Reporting Manager to support the organization's reporting, data analysis, and database operations functions. This role is primarily focused on delivering business intelligence, executive reporting, ad hoc data requests, database support, and data-driven insights across the organization.

Approximately 75% of the role is hands-on technical work involving SQL development, SSRS reporting, data analysis, and database support. The remaining responsibilities include team coordination, prioritization of work requests, stakeholder communication, and limited vendor management.

This individual will serve as a key resource for executives and business leaders who rely on timely, accurate data to make strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis, Reporting & Database Support (75%)

• Create, maintain, and optimize SSRS reports, dashboards, and recurring operational reports.
• Develop ad hoc reports, datasets, and data extracts for executives, department leaders, and business users.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and operational insights.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support reporting and business initiatives.
• Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot data discrepancies and work with stakeholders to validate reporting results.
• Collaborate with business departments to understand reporting needs and translate requirements into actionable solutions.
• Monitor reporting workloads and database performance to ensure efficient system operation.
• Support ETL processes and data integrations as needed.
• Serve as the primary resource for data-related questions, analysis requests, and reporting enhancements.

Team Leadership & Coordination (20%)

• Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of a small database and reporting team.
• Prioritize incoming reporting, analytics, and database support requests.
• Assign work, review deliverables, and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Facilitate communication between IT and business stakeholders regarding data initiatives and reporting priorities.
• Participate in hiring, performance management, and professional development activities for direct reports.
• Help establish reporting standards, documentation, and best practices.

Vendor & Partner Management (5%)

• Coordinate with software vendors and support partners regarding database-related applications and reporting solutions.
• Assist with licensing reviews, support agreements, and vendor issue resolution.
• Manage external resources when specialized database or reporting expertise is required.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in a reporting, analytics, or database support capacity.
• Strong hands-on experience developing complex SQL queries and data extracts.
• Extensive experience with SSRS report development and report administration.
• Experience supporting business intelligence, analytics, and executive reporting initiatives.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience prioritizing multiple reporting requests and managing competing business needs.
• Previous experience leading projects, coordinating teams, or supervising technical staff.
• Strong understanding of database design, data integrity, and performance optimization.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI or other modern reporting and visualization tools.
• Familiarity with SSIS and ETL processes.
• Experience supporting executive leadership teams with strategic reporting and analytics.
