Additional preproduction responsibilities include support of development, quality assurance and performance testing.
This position provides 7-day, 24-hour on-call coverage for production database systems and requires a strong understanding of the client area's functions as well as system and technology alternatives. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to lead a modern data platform, evolve legacy systems, and deliver observable, secure, and cost-effective data capabilities that power analytics and applications.This position will be based in our Columbus, OH office 4 days per week (with work from home on Friday). Remote work is not available for this role.What You'll DoManage and maintain database, schemas, roles and warehousesConfigure and optimize compute resources for performance and costMonitor storage utilization, query performance and system healthAutomate administrative tasks using SQL, Python or scriptingImplement and maintain role-based access control and security policiesCollaborate with data engineers to deploy pipelines (DBT/ADF/SSIS)Support data ingestion from cloud, APIs, and databasesEnsure efficient data loading, transformation and partitioning strategiesAnalyze query execution plans and optimize workload for efficiencyManage warehouse sizing and scaling for cost and performance balanceManage data security, encryption and data masking within SnowflakeImplement disaster recovery, backup and data retention strategiesPartner with data engineers and analysts to support data projectsTroubleshoot issues with the database, schemas, and accessProvide guidance on Snowflake best practicesImplement Snowflake updates and stay current with new cloud technologiesWhat You'll Bring To The TableBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field preferred5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Data Engineering experience2+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake Cloud Data PlatformStrong proficiency in SQL, performance tuning and data modelingExperience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (DBT, ADF, etc.)Preferred:SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certificationKnowledge of Snowflake CortexExperience with SQL Server or OracleExperience with CI/CD for data pipelines (Terraform)Knowledge of scripting language (Python, PowerShell, etc.)Knowledge of BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.)Soft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsDetailed-oriented and proactive in identifying performance and cost opportunitiesAbility to work in an agile, fast-paced environmentPay TransparencyA reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $87,000.00–$120,000.00.
