Supporting company-wide database strategy, performance optimization, and security initiativesThis is a hands-on, production-focused role requiring strong experience with Microsoft Azure SQL, particularly in resource management (DTUs/vCores, storage, scaling, and performance tuning).Key ResponsibilitiesOwn provisioning, configuration, ongoing maintenance, and disaster recovery planning and testing for client-specific Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and on-premises databasesSupport client implementations, go-lives, and migrations, ensuring database readiness and performanceSupport and maintain data warehouse infrastructure for clients and business intelligenceMonitor and actively manage:DTU / vCore utilizationStorage growth and allocationQuery performance and execution plansTroubleshoot and resolve production issues involving:Query performance degradationBlocking/lockingData inconsistencies or failuresPerform data migrations, imports, exports, and validation activitiesExecute controlled data updates and client-specific configurationsPartner with Support to resolve escalated database-related issuesCollaborate with Implementation Engineers on onboarding and environment setupMaintain documentation for client database configurations and standardsAssist IT leadership with internal database administration across corporate environmentsSupport database security initiatives (least privilege, password rotation, auditing, monitoring)Participate in patching, version upgrades, and performance optimization for shared systemsMaintain the operational health of internal SQL servers, VMs, and supporting infrastructure, while refining Azure resource configurations, scaling, and cost-efficiency recommendationsAssist with monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery planningContribute to company-wide data governance, standardization, and compliance initiativesRequired Qualifications3–5+ years of experience in database administration (SQL Server / Azure SQL)Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure SQL, including:DTU and/or vCore resource managementStorage scaling and performance tuningAzure monitoring tools (Metrics, Query Performance Insight, etc.)Cost optimization and right-sizing databasesAdvanced SQL skills:Query writing and optimizationIndexing strategiesStored procedures, views, tables, and execution plan analysisData migrationExperience managing production database environments with high availability requirementsStrong understanding of:Disaster recoveryBackup and recovery strategiesDatabase security and access controlPerformance tuning methodologiesProven ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in real-timeExperience working cross-functionally with engineering, support, and operations teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience in SaaS, fintech, or financial services environmentsFamiliarity with multi-tenant database architecturesExperience with automation/scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)Exposure to Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelinesExperience with Azure networking components (including VNets, subnets, and VPNs)Understanding of compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC 2, etc.)Experience supporting ETL processes or data pipelinesSoft Skills & CompetenciesStrong communication skills, especially with client-facing teams.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.Proactive, curious, and eager to learn.Comfortable working in structured, process-driven contexts.Team-oriented with a service-first mentality.Strong ownership mentality over production systems.High attention to detail and data accuracy.Compensation: $89,681.00 - $117,000.00 per yearAbout FINBOAFINBOA is a leading innovator in intelligent automation for community and regional banks and credit unions.
