We’re seeking a hands‑on Data Engineering Manager to manage a small team (3–4 engineers) while contributing directly to the design, development, and evolution of our data platform. This is a “player‑coach” role—ideal for someone who enjoys leading people, mentoring early‑career talent, and staying close to the technology.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, including junior team members and recent graduates
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the data warehouse and data pipelines
- Write SQL and build/maintain ETL workflows (primarily in SnapLogic)
- Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and architectural improvements
- Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of the data warehouse (AWS Redshift)
- Manage data marts, backup strategies, and data quality standards
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions
What We’re Looking For
- 5–6 years of experience in data engineering or data warehousing, with some leadership or team lead experience
- Strong SQL skills and experience with traditional data warehouse concepts (e.g., star schemas, Type 1/2 dimensions)
- Experience with cloud data platforms, especially AWS (Redshift, S3)
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools such as SnapLogic or Matillion
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, customer‑oriented mindset
- Experience working with large ERP systems (e.g., Workday) is a plus
- Higher education industry experience is a plus, but not required
- AWS Redshift (data warehouse)
- PostgreSQL (operational data store)
- SnapLogic & Matillion (ETL/ELT tools, moving toward SnapLogic standardization)
