Data Scientist - Strategic Data Solutions

Apple’s Strategic Data Solutions (SDS) team leads efforts to mitigate monetary losses, ensure financial crimes regulatory compliance, optimize various business processes, and improve the customer journey across our programs. Our team applies data science and machine learning to drive strategic impact across multiple lines of business at Apple. We are looking for an outstanding Data Scientist who is interested in working closely with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand client processes and analyze business needs, document and understand business requirements, conduct analytic investigations, perform system and workflow testing and validation, track and develop analytics, and develop/implement technical solutions. This includes ability to use Python, create new metrics and analytics, and making recommendations to improve quality and efficiency. They will sit side-by-side with our machine learning engineers and software engineers, analyze complex business problems, complete our annual end to end testing, participate in cross functional UAT testing, have access to internal and external data sources, and be expected to communicate relevant insights to senior leadership and key decision-makers. The ideal candidate works well in collaborative environments with minimal formal structure and is comfortable in changing environments with competing priorities. They must possess solid business acumen, a strong technical background, natural curiosity, and the ability to effectively shift between communications styles based on the audience (technical peer review through leadership update).

• Support discovery of business problemsAnalyze and interpret new sources of dataPerform ad-hoc and reoccurring investigations and analysesWork with machine learning engineers, software engineers, and engineering program managers to generate seamless business intelligence solutions for business partnersPresent results of analyses to business unitsPrepare documentation and analysis for integration testing, audits and examsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to facilitate meetings, collect minutes, gather action items, and drive tasks to completion.
• Entity Relationship Diagram experience is a must.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS / MS in technical field (math, statistics, engineering, computer science, analytics, or similar)At least 3-5 yrs experience working as a QBA, Data Scientist, or related roleExperience in investigations, testing, building metrics and reporting, and predictive analysisCompetent with SQL and big data systems and toolsProgramming skills in PythonExperience applying analytical techniques to provide solutions to real business problemsExperience eliciting and building comprehensive business requirements and project plansDocumenting features and developing functions for technical systems.
• Validating Functional Specifications against Business Requirements Assist in all stages of implementation (requirements test scripts, UAT, production release).
• Representing the Business Requirements in Design Reviews, Code Reviews and QA Reviews.
• Creating Quality Assurance Test scripts to validate Business Requirements and occasional Engineering Requirements.
