THOR Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Data Scientist (Navy) to support the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) contract. This full-time onsite role in San Diego, CA supports a waterfront team providing direct engineering and technical support to the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet , with work focused on large-scale data identification, collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities
- Develop and apply methods to identify, collect, process, and analyze large volumes of data to build and enhance products, processes, and systems.
- Perform data mining and retrieval , using statistical and mathematical analyses to identify trends, solve analytical problems, optimize performance, maintenance, and sustainment, and improve processes.
- Use programming, statistics, and visualization to extract insights from large and disparate data sources.
- Conduct trade studies and provide information on data quality , including data mining for studies related to design space exploration.
- Deliver recommendations for improvement and data use, including development of standards, understanding data from trade, feasibility and in-life assessments.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as operations research, data science, applied mathematics or statistics, business management, or human resources management.
- At least 7 years of recent, relevant professional experience applying statistical analysis and data mining to apply data, data modeling, and machine learning.
- Experience extracting and analyzing information from large structured and unstructured datasets .
- Experience visualizing and interpreting data report findings to create dynamic data reports .
- Proficiency with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite .
- Strong communication skills .
- Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required : This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, so only current U.S. citizens will be considered.
Location and work setup
This position is full time onsite at the South-West Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in San Diego, CA .
Work is primarily desk/computer based in an office environment, along with managing or overseeing personnel working in an active waterfront/shipboard environment . It may involve repetitive motion, talking, traversing shipboard environments (including tight or confined spaces, ladders, and hatches), and vision-related tasks.
Pay range
The anticipated pay range is $105,000 to $130,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
