Join NYC DOT’s DOSA team to build data products and predictive analytics that support Vision Zero and the Bus Action Plan.
- Plan and execute research and analysis studies related to transportation safety efforts to inform policy, planning, and programs (current and future)
- Produce data products and analytical outputs for senior staff to support Vision Zero and Bus Priority policy, planning, and implementation
- Collaborate with and supervise staff conducting research and presenting results to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Perform data mining and maintain critical databases
- Build predictive machine learning models
- Run ad-hoc data analysis
- Contribute to ongoing agency efforts to track, prioritize, and evaluate initiatives
- Develop new data products aligned to changing operational needs and support data-driven decision-making across the agency
- Support NYCDOT with evolving data management and analysis needs for the Bus Action Plan
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field of specialization: physical, biological, environmental science, or public health
- For appointment to Assignment Level II and above , candidates must meet one of the following (or equivalent):
- Doctorate degree plus 1 year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative, or research capacity
- Master’s degree plus 3 years of responsible full-time research experience
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above
- All candidates must have: a master’s degree in an appropriate field and at least 2 years of the experience described in the requirement above
- Substitution option: 2 years as a City Research Scientist Level I may be substituted for the experience required
- Probationary period: minimum one year (appointments subject to this requirement)

- Hours/shift: 35 hours per week, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Residency
- NYC residency generally required within 90 days of appointment
- City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County
Compensation
- Salary: USD 87,743 - 100,904 per year
- Minimum experience: 2 years
