Responsibilities
- Devising and applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to solve business and scientific problems.
- Evaluate AI/ML readiness and provide data acquisition recommendations to bridge gaps.
- Visualize data to discover and communicate solutions and opportunities.
- Contribute to the design and development of data science-powered applications and internal platforms.
- Work with modern data ecosystems (cloud platforms, distributed data systems, and real-time pipelines).
- Collaborate with external partners to bring groundbreaking results to PPG operations.
- Work with global teams to translate innovative ideas into deployable digital products and services with quantifiable business impact.
- Stay current on emerging technologies in AI/ML, software engineering, and applied data science.
Requirements
- B.S. in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field
- M.S. degree preferred in Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience applying data science or analytics to real-world problems
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with state-of-the-art deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras or comparable technologies
- Understanding of software development fundamentals: Version control (Git)
- Writing clean, modular, testable code
- Basic API development (e.g., FastAPI, Flask)
- Experience working with both structured and distributed data technologies ranging from SQL to Hadoop, Hive and Spark.
- Experience working in Agile or product-oriented teams
- Experience in delivering results at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, engineering and material sciences
