Data Scientist Intern - Summer 2027

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Data Scientist Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Phoenix, AZ office. Your role is to support the development and enhancement of data analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions for internal and client-facing projects. You will assist with data collection, validation, transformation, and integration from multiple data sources, including project controls, scheduling, cost, and operational systems. You will create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and other business intelligence platforms. You will support the configuration, testing, and deployment of digital solutions used for project management, project controls, and operational reporting. You will analyze business processes and user requirements to identify opportunities for reporting automation and workflow improvements. You will assist with AI-driven initiatives, including data preparation, testing, prompt development, and evaluation of emerging technologies. You will perform quality assurance and validation activities to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability. You will collaborate with technical managers, developers, data scientists, and project teams to develop and implement client solutions.

Experience

Past internship/involvement related to data analytics, business intelligence, software development or digital technologies preferred.

Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Special Skills

Strong analytical skills, problem solving, communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with Power BI, SQL, Python or other reporting and analytics platforms preferred.

Expected Compensation Range

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
