Leidos' Defense Systems RF Systems Division is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in the Airworthiness Test and Evaluation group. The position will be based in Huntsville, Alabama, within the Program Management Office Aircraft Survivability Equipment (PMO ASE), supporting test and evaluation of Aircraft Survivability Equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the capability to compile, reduce, format, analyze, and present test data.
- Participate in Aircraft Survivability Equipment testing, qualitatively and quantitatively assessing sensors, jammers, software upgrades, and other survivability systems.
- Apply practical knowledge to flight‑testing principles and concepts applicable to developmental and system qualification testing of DoD aircraft.
- Provide traceability from requirement to technical specifications.
- Contribute to testing events, test plans, and procedures for hardware and software testing.
- Assist other engineers in the design and execution of tests, analysis of data, and reporting documentation of results, including interpretation of findings.
- Work effectively in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
- Write and maintain code/scripts used in post‑processing and analysis of system performance.
- Support the development of test and evaluation input for milestone documentation such as the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Program Protection Plan (PPP), Systems Specification, Performance Work Statement (PWS), and/or Statement of Work (SoW).
- Support test planning with the OEM and Government Test Agencies, including ATEC and its subordinates, for developmental and operational test events including Live Fire Test & Evaluation (LFTE).
- Participate in T&E WIPT sub‑working groups such as LFTE, Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE), test Modeling and Simulation (M&S), etc.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and additional experience in Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Experience with data analysis tools and software (SQL, Excel, Tableau).
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of aviation systems and test methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in missile, weapon, infrared seeker, or radar engineering & analysis; modeling & simulation; testing, and software development.
- Familiarity with Army regulations and protocols.
- Highly organized, able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience on aircraft survivability programs.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to create and present briefs and technical documentation for senior leadership.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $57,850.00 – $104,575.00. This range is a general guideline and does not guarantee compensation. Additional factors considered include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, bargaining agreements, and applicable law.
