Everforth ECS is seeking a Data Scientist in Arlington, VA. This position is contingent upon additional funding.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and in teams to extract, manipulate, aggregate, clean, normalize, and validate data for projects.
  • Research, design, and develop visualization solutions supporting investigative and audit products.
  • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and build scalable models using data science and AI methods.
  • Develop mathematical, statistical, econometric, and analytical solutions for audit, investigation, research, and support functions.
  • Lead AI activities such as NLP, predictive analytics, and machine learning model development, training, evaluation, testing, refinement, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear narratives and prepare documentation (requirements, test plans, user manuals, technical diagrams, training materials).
  • Develop project communications and maintain relationships between teams, stakeholders, and management.
  • Provide advice on issues affecting projects, such as data access, quality, storage.
  • Present training and conference materials to large audiences.
  • Collect and analyze diverse data sources to develop insights, trends, and descriptive statistics.
  • Identify and develop sources from structured and unstructured data, criminal intelligence databases, public sources, internal Postal Service databases, reference manuals, audit and law enforcement reports.
  • Extract, evaluate, interpret, and visualize data to produce actionable intelligence for auditors and investigators to detect fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Use relational databases, data lakes, lakehouses, and other data environments to build analytic products (BI tools, summary tables, graphs, association and link charts).
  • Collaborate with agencies and peers to share information and learn new analytical tools and techniques.
  • Develop knowledge of database applications and environments and share expertise with coworkers.
  • Coordinate with staff and customers to identify business and technical requirements.
  • Produce written documentation and artifacts for all work completed, including translating user requirements into technical designs.
  • Assist in development of programming and visualization solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing projects or application efforts.
  • Engineer data analytic solutions, including prototypes, proof of concept, and full implementations.
  • Evaluate, assess, document, and test data security and continuity of operations for systems and programs.
  • Ensure compatibility between equipment and software, analyze operational and system requirements, support design reviews, and present technical briefings.
  • Analyze data for ETL strategies, pattern recognition, and application of analytical tools.
  • Review, debug, test, and document existing products.
  • Guide coworkers on business and technical issues affecting projects, such as data access, quality, storage capacity, and analytic tools.
  • Work with training and conference development presentations.

Required Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience writing code in SQL, Python, R, and JavaScript.
  • 3+ years’ experience on projects involving machine learning, NLP, robotic process automation, AI, text/data mining, statistical and mathematical methods.
  • At least 6 months experience with AWS or Azure services (Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake).
  • Facilitate communication between business owners, end‑users, database administrators, and IT support staff.
  • Ensure quality and security guidelines are followed.
  • Strong relational database and querying language experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team‑work orientation.
  • Expert proficiency with data science tools, IDEs, open‑source, commercial off‑the‑shelf tools, and hardware capabilities for model development, dashboards, and reports.
  • Experience with advanced analytic techniques (machine learning, NLP, RPA, AI, text/data mining, statistical and mathematical methods).
  • Experience with business intelligence applications and reporting technologies (DAX, Power Platform, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Knowledge of AWS or Azure services (Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lakehouses, Data Lake).
  • Knowledge of ETL strategies, pattern recognition, analytic tools.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (analysis, design, development, coding, testing, debugging, documenting).
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, JavaScript for creating solutions in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated application of analytical techniques leading to business impact.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills for data source collection, methodology, visualization deployment.
  • Understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, data governance, data access, data quality.
  • Knowledge of ODBC connection strings and external data source connection protocols.

Desired Skills

  • Professional certification in data science or analytics.
  • Experience with programming languages (Python) and BI tools (Power BI), analytics platforms (Databricks).
  • Law enforcement and/or audit industry experience.
  • Experience with Azure cloud computing.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
