This area of the business is growing rapidly and the manager is seeking candidates that are interested in contract to hire opportunities. The manager shared that this role will focus on analyzing, designing, and modeling databases that support business requirements and align with enterprise standards.
The manager is ideally seeking local talent that can work from our Downtown St. Paul office, but will also consider fully remote.Candidate locations to be considered outside of MN include: WI, AL, AK, AZ, AR, FL, GA, ID, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, MT, NE, NM, NC, ND, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WV, WY.Position Summary: Securian is on an exciting journey to stand up a mature data engineering discipline focused on enterprise data. One key stepping-stone is defining and implementing a data strategy and associated process and technologies to successfully leverage data as an asset.Responsibilities include but not limited to:Collaborate with business users and IT partners to understand and document requirements for data.Create designs and data models that enable business requirements and align with enterprise data standards.Play a key role in helping Securian implement the Enterprise Data Strategy by designing an Enterprise Data Store and participating in other key initiatives in the strategy.Qualifications:Conceptual understand of database modelingTechnical skills Experience with tools and concepts related to data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.Database Table Design Skills/ExperienceSoft skills Experience working with business users to analyze requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.Strong problem solving and analytical abilitiesAttention to detailSolid communication skillsWillingness to learnPreferred Qualifications:2+ years’ experience as a Data Modeler, Data Engineer, or related field.Previous experience or knowledge of Insurance/Financial Services industry.Agile experiencePhysical job requirements:Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per dayAbility to work at least 40 hours per weekAbility to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)The physical job requirements described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
