Data Modeler

Responsibilities:

1. Perform development or maintenance work on data models, data dictionaries, CRUD matrix, flowcharts, design justifications or other artifacts to meet corporate standards, integration with enterprise data architecture and company goals.
2. Conduct data analysis and capture data requirements.
3. Strong communication skills including written and oral, with ability to work closely with sponsors, business owners, and analysts on requirements and use case design.
4. Create data dictionary and metadata around the data elements. Responsible for defining the source repositories and rules around the transformations.
5. Experience working in Agile or Scrum methodologies.
6. Create the logical and physical models.
7. Strong knowledge of SqlServer or other enterprise databases (5 yrs. exp), ERwin, SqlServer Management Studio, Visual Studio.
8. Contribute to large modeling projects with other data modelers at remote sites.
9. Experience with Azure DevOps, RedGate a plus.
10. Participate in business requirements gathering, perform data analysis, design logical data models, and participate in the design of physical data models.
11. Work with customers to understand and derive meaningful data relationships and translate them into appropriate data models.
12. Serve as a reference and authority on the process of data modeling and ensure consistency with existing data models and data architectures, published standards, and guidelines.
13. Develop, review, approve new data models and enhance existing models.
14. Validate logical data models with business subject matter experts.
15. Work with other members of the development team to ensure all requirements are captured and reflected in the data model.
16. Work with DBA team to design physical models to satisfy optimal performance.
17. Participate in best practices and standards development.
18. Train/mentor others in data modeling.
19. Actively participate in metadata definition and management.
20. Actively participate in designing the data access layer.

Assist and backup DW/BI architect in support of data warehouse/business intelligence functions.
