This hybrid on-site position is located at our headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Science.

What You Will Do

  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various data initiatives, including transactional systems, data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts.
  • Translate complex business requirements and rules into clear, concise, and accurate data structures.
  • Determine appropriate data modeling techniques (e.g., relational, dimensional, NoSQL) based on business needs and technical constraints.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers, ETL developers, and data analysts to gather requirements, validate designs, and ensure alignment across data initiatives.
  • Facilitate discussions and workshops to define data entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules.
  • Data Governance & Standards:
    • Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices to ensure consistency and maintainability across the enterprise.
    • Contribute to the development and management of data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata repositories.
  • Optimization & Performance:
    • Collaborate with database administrators and data engineers to optimize data models for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
    • Advise on indexing strategies, partitioning, and other physical design considerations.
  • Data Quality & Integrity:
    • Ensure data models support data quality initiatives by incorporating appropriate constraints, validation rules, and integrity checks.
    • Understand and document data lineage to track data flow from source to consumption.
  • Evaluation & Improvement:
    • Review existing data models and databases for variances, discrepancies, and opportunities for optimization.
    • Stay current with industry trends and emerging data modeling tools and methodologies.

What We Look For

Required

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or another related quantitative field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience as a Data Modeler, Data Architect, or a similar role with a strong focus on data modeling.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data definition, manipulation, and querying.
  • Proven experience with industry-standard data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin Data Modeler, SAP PowerDesigner, ER/Studio, Lucidchart).
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with dimensional modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).
  • Familiarity with various database technologies (e.g., relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server; NoSQL databases; cloud data warehouses like BigQuery).
  • Experience with data modeling in cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management platforms.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, MS Dynamics, Oracle, etc.), with IFS ERP systems experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and how data models support data pipelines.
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Certifications in data modeling or related data management field.
