Data ModelerSeeking a qualified Data Modeler to work with IT professionals and business analysts to provide services in support of the development future state data architecture and application modernization activities. The candidate will be in an expert role and work closely with Business, DBA, ETL and Data Management teams providing solutions for complex data related initiatives. An ideal Data Modeler an analytical and creative thinker who is not intimidated by roadblocks and challenges.Characteristics of a successful Data Modeler:Ability to determine when good is good enough to balance quality and delivery deadlinesComfortable in a sea of ambiguitySocratic method: ask a lot of Why, clarifying and probing questionsEmpathetic and curiousEffective translator between technical and non-technical audiencesWhat You'll Get to Do:Design and maintain data models for operational and analytical systems with input from Solution Architects and Business AnalystsDesign and maintain data schemas for event/message publishing and integrationDesign and maintain data schemas for NoSQL platformsEnsure data decisions are consistent and best practices are adhered toEnsure data definitions, metadata management, business glossary, and data lineage are kept up to date and accessibleChampion enterprise data policies, procedures, and standardsProvide mentoring to team membersWhat You Must Bring:5 years' data modeling experienceExperience at gathering and documenting requirements and translating them into data modelsExperience in designing logical and physical relational data modelsDesigning data model structures for reuseExperience with analytical modeling; Inmon and/or Kimball modeling techniquesExperience designing NoSQL data models using XML Schema (XSD), JSON Schema, and Avro.Experience adhering to data naming standards and writing good data definitionsSolid knowledge of Data Governance and Management Concepts (MDM, Data Quality)Experience in both waterfall and agile development practiceDemonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills, and employ judgment to offer thoughtful, concise input toward resolutions of problemsPay attention to detail and is meticulous in their workWhat You Should Bring:Fluency in writing SQLDesign experience with Databricks Delta Lake and TeradataExperience in designing data models for NoSQL environments such as Kafka, Cassandra, MarkLogic, and MongoDBBasic understanding of REST API resourcesExperience with data modeling tools such as PowerDesigner and HackoladeExperience with working with GitHub repositories is highly desirable.Knowledge of the railroad and/or freight transportation industryProfessional/Personal Skill Requirements:Exceptional and clearly understandable English in support of both verbal and written communication requirementsEffective communication at different levels (i.e.
