Our challenge:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-wide data models that support business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and operational systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and application teams to create scalable and efficient data structures that ensure data consistency, integrity, and accessibility across the organization.


Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).


The Role

Responsibilities:

Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise applications and data platforms.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective data architecture solutions.

Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, business glossaries, and data lineage documentation.

Develop and optimize dimensional models (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) for data warehousing and analytics.

Collaborate with Data Engineers, Database Administrators, Architects, and Business Analysts to implement data solutions.

Perform data profiling, data quality assessments, and impact analysis.

Define data standards, naming conventions, and governance best practices.

Support database performance tuning through effective schema design and indexing strategies.

Participate in data integration, migration, and modernization initiatives.

Ensure compliance with data governance, security, regulatory, and privacy requirements.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship on data modeling principles and best practices.


Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience in Data Modeling, Database Design, or Data Architecture.

Strong expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.

Experience with SQL and major database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Snowflake.

Hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as:

  • ERwin Data Modeler
  • ER/Studio
  • SAP PowerDesigner
  • IBM InfoSphere Data Architect
  • Lucidchart or similar tools

Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes.

Experience working with large-scale enterprise data environments.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


Preferred, but not required:

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Knowledge of Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, or Delta Lake.

Familiarity with Data Governance, MDM, Metadata Management, and Data Catalog tools.

Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Relevant certifications in Data Management, Cloud Technologies, or Data Architecture.
