Database Administrator
100% telecommute.
Hours: 8-5 Eastern (with an hour lunch break built in), but I’d say that can be flexible. There’s also a chance that there would be a critical situation that would require assistance earlier or later in the day, so not sure how that’s best handled.
Responsibilities:
- Reports to Technical Services Manager
- Manage multiple availability groups on a three server on-premises virtual environment including critical databases associated with patient care
- Manage multiple other databases spread across various physical and virtual servers
- Use various applications to monitor system and database resources and performance
- Tune performance and poorly performing queries as needed to reduce downtime and improve overall user satisfaction
- Work with members of other internal teams and external support to ensure optimized SSRS reporting and EHR application performance as needed
- Refresh lower environments as needed by other teams to facilitate testing and development
- Manage and monitor backups and log shipping to prevent loss of data in the event of a catastrophic failure
- Apply Windows OS, SQL, and application updates as necessary
- On call if outages or serious degradation of performance is encountered on mission critical databases
- Manage access rights to databases
Requirements:
- Experience with Microsoft SQL versions
- Experience w/ large databases
- Microsoft SQL certifications and/or 5 yrs of experience in a medium to large SQL environment
- Knowledge of the administration of the Microsoft SQL Server Platform.
- Experience with hardware and software virtualization.
- Knowledge of industry best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills.
