Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Remote (Occasional Travel Required)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize Snowflake data warehouses for performance and scalability.
• Build and manage ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Talend, dbt, Apache Airflow, or Azure Data Factory .
• Implement data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Data Vault) and best practices for analytics and reporting.
• Work with SQL, stored procedures, UDFs, and tasks within Snowflake.
• Optimize Snowflake warehouses, partitions, clustering, caching, and query performance .
• Ensure data security and governance with RBAC, masking, and encryption.
• Integrate Snowflake with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik) and external systems.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers to integrate Snowflake within AWS, Azure, or GCP ecosystems .
• Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and troubleshooting .
• Document solutions, workflows, and design patterns for future use.

Required Skills

• 9+ years of data engineering and data warehousing experience .
• 4+ years of hands-on Snowflake development and administration .
• Strong expertise in SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, optimization) .
• Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Informatica, Talend, Airflow, ADF, Glue).
• Experience with data modeling and schema design .
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and governance .
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

Desired Skills

• Experience with real-time/streaming data ingestion (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
• Hands-on with Python or Scala for data transformations.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to machine learning workflows integrated with Snowflake.
• Cloud certifications (SnowPro Core/Advanced, AWS Data Analytics Specialty, Azure Data Engineer, GCP Data Engineer).
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
