Data EngineerImagineeer is seeking a Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of secure, compliant data pipelines and enterprise data platforms within DoD and federal healthcare environments. This role focuses on building scalable ingestion frameworks, implementing secure data transformation workflows, and ensuring all engineering activities align with federal cybersecurity, privacy, and records management standards. You will operate in regulated IL4/IL5 cloud environments and work directly with data architects, cybersecurity teams, and data scientists to deliver trusted, audit-ready data infrastructure.Pipeline Design and DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain secure ETL/ELT data pipelines in IL4/IL5 cloud environmentsBuild scalable ingestion frameworks integrating structured and unstructured data sourcesDevelop API-based and streaming ingestion mechanismsIntegrate enterprise systems including MHS GENESIS, TRICARE, and United States Transportation CommandEnforce data validation, schema enforcement, and metadata tagging standards across all pipelinesSecurity and Compliance EngineeringImplement encryption in transit and at rest in accordance with DoD and NIST requirementsDevelop automated logging, monitoring, and audit trails for all data ingestion and transformation activitiesSupport implementation of ABAC and RBAC mechanismsAssist with RMF documentation and ATO package developmentParticipate in DevSecOps pipeline implementation and CI/CD automationData Governance and CatalogingSupport data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking initiativesApply data quality checks and fitness-for-use assessments across high-visibility datasetsDocument engineering methods and pipelines to support Government sustainment and knowledge transferQualifications and Skills5 to 10 years of experience in data engineering or enterprise data platform developmentExperience supporting DoD or federal civilian agenciesHands-on experience with IL4/IL5 cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or equivalent)Strong proficiency in SQL and PythonExperience building pipelines using Spark or distributed processing frameworksFamiliarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD practicesUnderstanding of NIST 800-series security controls and federal compliance environmentsExperience implementing encryption, logging, and monitoring controlsMust be able to obtain a Public Trust clearanceDesired Skills and CompetenciesExperience supporting Military Health System or federal healthcare environmentsExperience with lakehouse platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)Experience implementing metadata catalogs and data lineage tools (Collibra, Apache Atlas, Alation, Informatica, or equivalent)Familiarity with zero-trust architecture principlesKnowledge of automated records retention and disposition workflowsStrong documentation skills supporting compliance and audit readinessExperience collaborating with architects, data scientists, and cybersecurity teams in Agile or DevSecOps environmentsCurrent database or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Oracle, IBM DB2, CDMP, or equivalent)Technical certification in compliance with DoD Directive 8140 (CompTIA Sec+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent)Active DoD clearanceEqual Opportunity EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate in employment decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
