Freedman HealthCare is an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and growing consultancy with a culture of teamwork, open communication, and meeting exacting standards.Job Summary:The Data Engineer I supports healthcare analytics and data engineering projects through development of SQL workflows, reporting solutions, data transformations, and analytic datasets. This is a hybrid role that combines analytics, reporting, and technical data management responsibilities in a collaborative consulting environment.Working closely with analysts, consultants, health policy experts, and healthcare stakeholders, you will support projects focused on healthcare quality, affordability, access, and equity.
Responsibilities may include developing SQL queries, validating and transforming healthcare data, supporting dashboards and reporting deliverables, maintaining ETL workflows, and assisting with development of scalable analytic datasets and data structures.This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset who enjoys both problem solving and technical data work, and who is interested in growing across both healthcare analytics and data engineering disciplines.This is a hybrid position with two days per week in-office in downtown Providence, Rhode Island (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and three remote days (subject to change).Duties/Responsibilities:Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and workflows to collect, clean, and transform data from various sources into usable formatsEnsure data integrity, quality, and accuracy throughout the data processing lifecycleAnalyze and interpret health insurance exchange data and related datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insightsGenerate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to non-technical stakeholdersDesign, develop, and maintain databases, data models, and schemas for efficient storage and retrieval of dataCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutionsStay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data analysis, engineering, and visualizationIdentify opportunities to improve data infrastructure, processes, and analytics capabilitiesRequired Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of health insurance, health insurance exchanges, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), customer service, and outreachKnowledge of US healthcare policy, trends, and factors such as eligibility, utilization, cost, and equityKnowledge of state government role in healthcareStrong proficiency in SQL and data analysis, within Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle SQL Developer, and PL/SQL environmentsExperience with Tableau and Excel experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms preferredProficiency in data profiling, manipulation, and transformation using tools such as Pandas, Python, or similarExperience working with cloud or warehouse platforms such as Amazon Redshift preferredFamiliarity with additional database platforms and data environments is a plusExcellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with keen attention to detailStrong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to present complex findings in a clear and concise mannerAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced consulting environmentEducation and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in healthcare administration, data science, statistics, or equivalent work experience preferred2+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, reporting, or related technical roles preferredExperience working with healthcare claims or health insurance exchange data preferredPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerNote:Vaccination for COVID-19 is required and FHC will consider accommodations for disability- and religious-based reasons.The job description provided above is a general outline and may be subject to modifications based on specific organizational requirements.Freedman HealthCare, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
