Remote Full Time General

Data Center System AdministratorWe are currently hiring for a Data Center System Administrator in Chicago, Illinois, with experience in Linux, Unix, RedHat, to work a mix of on-site and remote support to our customers. This role will require you to be on site at the customer's office 3 days a week.As part of the Lenovo Data Center Operations Support team your responsibilities will include:Monitoring, maintaining, and managing the physical infrastructure of a data center, ensuring its smooth operation, reliability, and security.Monitoring power and cooling systems and network connectivityHardware and system software debugging and troubleshooting.Operating System Management and DeploymentResolving hardware and software issuesResponding to alerts, performing preventative maintenance, rolling out and upgrading firmware versions, and managing any issues that may arise to minimize downtime and optimize data availabilityBecome the customers' Single Point of Contact (SPOC).Following up and reporting the progress on all issues. Respond to users and provide support to them on the daily operations of the cluster.Daily system administration tasks, including granting, deleting access, Investigate and correct defects in the cluster as reported, adhering to the service levels.Resolve errors through developing, testing and implementing changes to the system.Provide corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and isolate defects.Perform Software and firmware testing for any fixes, upgrades, security patch.Update the customers' documentation when and as necessary to reflect the changes made to the system.Compile Monthly Reporting and take part in monthly customer Service Reviews where required.Basic Qualifications3+ years of experience in Linux (ie Suse, RHEL & CentOS) and system administrationPreferred Qualifications:Experience in Confluent & SlurmExperience in Server, storage and networkingAble to perform OS installation and upgrades with no supervisionExperience in system troubleshooting, monitoring and support.Customer service skills including written and oral communication with clientWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any federal, state, or local protected class.We are Lenovo.
