Data Center Operations Consultant for Government Agency for NYFULLY REMOTE ROLE for Brooklyn, NY ( Remote ) Client: DOT ONLY LOCAL TO NJ-NY (Commutable Distance from Brooklyn, NY)This role involves working closely with application development teams, system administrators, and infrastructure teams to ensure IMS database stability, high availability, integrity, and optimal performance.Required Qualifications:At least 10 years of relevant experience as an IMS Systems Programmer working with IMS hierarchical databases ensuring efficient design and performance optimization on IBM z/OS mainframes.Strong knowledge of IMS DB/DC, IMS utilities, and IMS Transaction Manager.Understanding of z/OS system internals, storage management, and performance monitoring.Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, DBRC, and VSAM.Experience with BMC, IBM, or other IMS database management tools.Experience with DBRC (Database Recovery Control), and HALDB (High Availability Large Database).Implement and maintain IMS database security policies and procedures.Experience with IMS Systems Programming, performing configuration changes and troubleshooting.Experience with document processes, best practices, and system configurations.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.Hands-on experience with the following:Implementing DBDs and PSBs for the IMS catalogACB Maintenance utility to generate the ACBs for the IMS catalogManaged ACBs using the IMS catalogRECON maintenance, backup, and recoveryIMS Tools upgrade and ongoing maintenanceIMS database recovery, reorganization, and tuningIBM/DB2 utilities and monitoring toolsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with IMS modernization and integration with distributed systems.Knowledge of Rexx, CLIST, and automation scripting.Familiarity with CICS, and DB2.Familiarity with DevOps tools for mainframe environments.IMS certification from IBM or equivalent industry certification.
