Data Center Design & Build Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Design & Build Engineer to lead the end-to-end planning, design, and construction of data center facilities. This role partners closely with clients and internal teams to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant data center solutions aligned with business and operational objectives.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth across power, cooling, cabling, and IT infrastructure, along with hands‑on experience managing data center build‑outs from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead custom data center design solutions, optimizing space utilization and layout efficiency
• Develop structured cabling designs that support current and future capacity requirements
• Create comprehensive power, cooling, and capacity planning strategies to ensure scalability
• Ensure designs align with Uptime Institute Tier standards and industry best practices
• Oversee the design and implementation of network and IT infrastructure for high-performance environments
• Provide technical guidance on structured cabling, power distribution, and cooling strategies
• Develop and execute technology migration plans to relocate IT workloads with minimal disruption

Construction & Project Management

• Manage data center build-outs from concept through completion, ensuring schedule and budget adherence
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to procure and deploy infrastructure
• Implement modular construction methodologies to enable faster and more flexible deployments
• Maintain vendor-neutrality by selecting solutions best aligned to client requirements

Compliance, Risk & Continuity

• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements
• Conduct risk assessments and implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies
• Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices related to safety, security, and operations

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with clients to understand technical, operational, and business requirements
• Provide strategic consulting for data center migrations, expansions, and modernization initiatives
• Deliver post-build support to optimize performance and support long-term scalability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of data center power, cooling, and capacity planning
• Expertise in structured cabling systems and network infrastructure design
• Experience planning and executing technology migrations
• Familiarity with modular data center construction methodologies
• Knowledge of data center compliance, risk management, and continuity frameworks
• Experience with Sunbird DCIM is a plus
