Data Center Construction QA / QC Manager - Mesa, AZ
Opportunity with a leading EPC company that designs, builds, and commissions mission‑critical data centers. The role focuses on ensuring quality and commissioning of key infrastructure systems across large data center projects, coordinating with engineering and construction teams to meet stringent standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to verify company procedures and standards are followed.
- Manage and perform Level 1‑3 commissioning procedures for data center projects.
- Communicate the status of the commissioning process with senior management.
- Conduct site acceptance and commissioning to ensure facilities meet company standards.
- Assist in developing procedures and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for DC build and approve MOPs for data hall work.
- Supervise on‑site management of facility managers, technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure Level 1‑3 commissioning is performed per established practices.
- Serve as the client relationship liaison and escalation point for the site.
- Establish performance benchmarks, analyze data, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance.
- Coordinate with business leaders to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Review MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical data center equipment.
- Maintain readiness to support the mission goal of 99.999% uptime.
- Conduct operations and maintenance program analysis and reporting.
- Design critical environment programs for internal and external clients.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams.
- Recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing critical environment programs.
- Develop process documentation and training materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience (military experience a plus).
- Certifications as a commissioning professional (BCxP, CxA, CCP, etc.) a plus.
- NETA or NICET certification a plus.
- Journeyman or Master’s license in MEP a plus.
- 5–10+ years of data center facility construction and commissioning experience.
- Experience on projects 5 MW or larger a plus.
- 3–5 years of quality assurance, quality control, commissioning, MEP coordination, or related experience.
- Previous experience working with a GC or third‑party commissioning company a huge plus.
- Strong understanding of critical electrical power systems or mechanical/HVAC equipment in a data center environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with BIM 360, CxAlloy, or end‑user ACMS as necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills.
- Superior analytical, planning, and problem‑resolution skills.
- Highly organized with proven project management abilities; self‑motivated.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Open to travel; M‑F with home on weekends; limited travel if located near a project.
- Relocation available.
