Role: Data Center & Infrastructure Technician
Location: Chicago IL (Rosemont, Elgin, Franklin Park) - Onsite
Duration: 6 months, Contract-2-Hire
Pay rate: $50/hour W2 Only, client will not consider C2C
Job summary:
We are looking for a hands-on infrastructure technician to serve as the physical “hands and feet” for our remote managed services team at a retail client’s corporate IT sites. You will install, replace, and troubleshoot servers, storage, network, and firewall hardware on behalf of remote engineers and the client’s small IT leadership team. This is a corporate infrastructure role only. There is no end-user device or meeting-room support.
Required skills:
- Experience in data center, server room, or field-technician work
- Hands-on experience with rack-and-stack, structured cabling (copper and fiber), and hardware component replacement
- Working knowledge of servers, storage arrays, and network switches/firewalls, including identifying hardware faults and following remote instruction
- Ability to work in a data center and server closet environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at height on ladders, and working in cold, loud environments (VERIFY physical requirements)
- Reliable transportation to travel between the three sites (Rosemont, Elgin, Franklin Park)
