Location: Charlotte, NC | Atlanta, GA | Richmond, VA | Reston, VA (hybrid)
ProspectBlue is partnering with a national technology consulting firm on several Data Architect openings. This is a hands-on architecture role. You'll own the design, and you'll stay close enough to the code to review it.
What the work looks like
- Assessing current-state data environments and designing the target state — data lakes, warehouses, single-source-of-truth platforms
- Making and defending architectural trade-offs around cost, performance, governance, security, and access
- Delivering the solution you designed, alongside the engineering team, through to production
- Mentoring engineers and running design and code reviews
What we're looking for
- Consulting experience is required, with a track record of assessment through delivery. Strategy-and-recommendation work without implementation behind it isn't the profile
- Multiple full architecture cycles at enterprise scale. You should be able to walk through several designs you've owned and explain why you made the calls you made
- Advanced SQL and Python; depth across AWS and/or Azure, plus Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, NoSQL, and real-time distribution tooling
- Still hands-on. Not full-time in the code, but current enough to get into it when the engagement needs it
- Working knowledge of data governance practices — MDM, security, privacy, policy
- Practical use of AI tooling in your workflow
Logistics
- Hybrid. Client needs drive the schedule — some engagements are onsite, most are largely remote. Candidates who require guaranteed full-time remote are not a fit
- Must live within a reasonable commute of one of the office locations listed
- Minimal travel, averaging about one day per month
