Data ArchitectThe Data Architect at Rockland Trust is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the bank's enterprise data architecture. This role defines how data is stored, integrated, accessed, and governed across systems to support business strategy, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making.This role is based in Plymouth with a hybrid model.Responsibilities:Design and implement modern, enterprise-wide data architecture frameworks and standardsDefine how data is stored, integrated, accessed, and managed across systemsDevelop and maintain an enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectivesData Modeling & Systems DesignLead the design and development of:Data warehouses (DW) and operational data stores (ODS)Logical and physical data modelsIntegration with data quality toolsDesign scalable data structures to support analytics and reportingData Governance, Security & ComplianceEstablish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standardsEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX, CCPA)Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and security across the organizationPerformance & OptimizationMonitor database performance and data workloadsOptimize systems for scalability, reliability, and efficiencyRecommend and implement performance tuning and improvement strategiesLeadership & CollaborationProvide technical leadership to data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholdersInfluence enterprise data initiatives and IT policiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units and external vendorsTools & Technology StrategyEvaluate, select, and implement data platforms and toolsWork with technologies such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, and Azure data platformsStay current with emerging data technologies and industry trendsQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, database design, and data management (preferably in banking or financial services)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly languageExcellent leadership and communication skillsTechnical SkillsData modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio)Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databasesExperience with Snowflake and modern data platformsCloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and modern data architecture patternsKnowledge of data governance and compliance frameworksOur goal is to offer our colleagues the most generous benefits package possible.
