Role Description

The Cytotechnologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Spartanburg, SC. This role is responsible for screening and evaluating cytology specimens, including gynecologic and non-gynecologic samples, to detect cellular abnormalities and potential malignancies. The Cytotechnologist prepares and stains slides, verifies specimen integrity, and follows established laboratory protocols to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with pathologists, documenting findings in the laboratory information system, and participating in quality control procedures and proficiency testing. The Cytotechnologist also supports continuous improvement initiatives, adheres to safety and regulatory standards, and contributes to a culture of precision and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated Laboratory Skills in specimen preparation, staining, and slide evaluation.
• Knowledge of Pathology principles, with specific experience in cytology and cellular morphology.
• Experience in Quality Control, including adherence to laboratory protocols, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance.
• Current ASCP or equivalent cytotechnology certification, or eligibility to obtain certification within a defined timeframe.
• Understanding of Laboratory Medicine practices and workflow in a high-volume diagnostic setting.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related biological science field, from an accredited program.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to interpret complex laboratory data accurately.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and clinical partners.
