Cut To Length OperatorThe Cut to Length Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending machines to cut metal products according to customer specifications. This role involves verifying the dimensions of completed products, examining them for defects, and ensuring the machinery operates efficiently to meet production goals.Summary of Essential Job Functions/ResponsibilitiesMeasure and Verify: Use micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers to ensure products conform to specificationsInspect for Defects: Examine finished products for defects like chipped edges or marred surfaces; sort defective pieces by typeRead Work Orders: Interpret production schedules or work orders to determine material specifications, cutting lines, dimensions, and tolerancesOperate Machinery: Set up, operate, and tend to the Cut to Length machineMonitor and Record: Start machines, monitor their operations, and document operational dataAdjust Machine Settings: Test and adjust machine speeds or actions to match product specifications using gauges and hand toolsMaintain Equipment: Clean and lubricate machines regularlyPosition Products: Align and secure products against fixtures or stops on machine bedsAdditional Duties: Perform other tasks as assignedQualificationsEducation/Experience: High School Diploma or GED, with 1-2 years of experience in a production process (preferably in the metals industry).Skills: Proficiency in using measuring devices.Basic computer skillsAbility to read and understand work ordersPhysical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobilityReliability: Demonstrated reliable work historyAttention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasksEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
