Custom Applicator/Truck Driver

Job TitleTo deliver grain/agronomy products, apply agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, and lime to fields and perform maintenance in a safe and timely manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.Custom ApplicatorOperate row crop sprayer, dry and liquid floatation equipmentPerform maintenance and repairs to equipmentUnderstand variable rate controllers and GPS equipmentProperly check quantity of raw materials used and in storageApply accurate application to fields with or without special instructionsWork around and/or handles hazardous materialsTruck DriverDeliver agronomy productsAssist with loading and delivering fertilizer and/or chemicalsPerform maintenance and repairs to equipmentPerform basic mechanical maintenancePerform and record general housekeepingComplete and maintain driving and delivery recordsPerform basic grain handling, loading, and unloadingAssist with other duties where needed by managementReportingInform your supervisor of discrepancies in your reports as soon as you are aware of themInform your supervisor of potential problems or potential new business opportunities directly or indirectly related to your departmentReport any unsafe equipment or working conditions to your supervisorReport any needed repairs or special maintenance to your supervisor immediatelyDeliver Orders SafelyUse extreme caution while driving in farmers' yards; drive slowly and watch for children, pets, animals, toys, flower beds, hedges, and lawnsWatch for overhead wires when using augersAvoid damage to farmers' buildings, bins, or property when positioning for unloadingAvoid spilling the product; clean up spillage that occursEnsure bin doors and covers are closed when delivery is completeObserve and report any unusual activity, problems, and farmers' complaints to your supervisorFollow RegulationsMaintain a valid commercial driver's licenseMaintain and Operate Delivery Vehicle SafelyCheck lights and safety equipment dailyObey all traffic laws, including:Driving within posted speed limitsStopping and looking for traffic at all stop signsDrive defensivelyReport any unsafe equipment or working conditions to your supervisorAllow no riders who have not been approved by your supervisorWash vehicle as weather and operating conditions require to maintain a clean vehicleFollow the regular vehicle maintenance schedule provided by your supervisorReport any needed repairs or special maintenance to your supervisor immediatelySafety and ComplianceUphold all cooperative policiesFollow and comply with all laws and regulations both State and FederalAttend employee safety meetings, etc. held as required or scheduled in conjunction with Safety Director or locationOther DutiesPerform other duties as assigned by managementReceive favorable feedback from all department managers when assigned to perform or assist with other duties and responsibilities in those departmentsAttitude consistently mirrors the company image and promotes fellow employee teamworkPresent a professional image through words, actions, and personal appearanceBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experienceGeneral computer knowledgeCommercial Applicators license with 1A, 1B, and 1C endorsements or must be able to obtain when requiredClass A CDL license or must be able to successfully complete the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) when requiredAbility to work long seasonal hours, climb heights, and stand for long periods of timeDetailed oriented to provide accurate and consistent workExcellent customer service skillsAbility to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spacesPhysical DemandsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
