Job summary:
Perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities. Working evenings after 5pm, Monday-Friday. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
- A current valid driver's license
- Qualify for SFA's commercial automobile insurance
Preferred:
- Diploma or GED
- Custodial experience
Skills required:
- Knowledge of:
- Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures
- Cleaning materials and disinfectants
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- The operation of common janitorial equipment (e.g. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (e.g. vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)
- Ability to:
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Build good rapport with those contacted in-the-course-of work
Job responsibilities:
- Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment. Cleaning duties will be performed outside of regular office hours
- Perform moderate to heavy manual work
- Perform minor repairs and assist with office moves
- Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment, with occasional travel from site to site; exposure to dust, grease, odors, and cleaning agents; work hours include shift work to minimize disruption of daily operational activities
- Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment
