Job summary:

Perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related facilities. Working evenings after 5pm, Monday-Friday. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
  • A current valid driver's license
  • Qualify for SFA's commercial automobile insurance

Preferred:

  • Diploma or GED
  • Custodial experience

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of:
    • Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures
    • Cleaning materials and disinfectants
    • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
    • The operation of common janitorial equipment (e.g. broom, ladder, step stool), motorized vehicles and power equipment (e.g. vacuums, common power tools, yard equipment)
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently in the absence of supervision
    • Great written and verbal communication skills
    • Build good rapport with those contacted in-the-course-of work

Job responsibilities:

  • Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment. Cleaning duties will be performed outside of regular office hours
  • Perform moderate to heavy manual work
  • Perform minor repairs and assist with office moves
  • Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment, with occasional travel from site to site; exposure to dust, grease, odors, and cleaning agents; work hours include shift work to minimize disruption of daily operational activities
  • Primary functions require enough physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderately heavy objects and occasionally objects over 45 pounds; requires an ability to operate various equipment
