Custodian
Under immediate supervisor, performs work of routine difficulty in performing general custodial services in a school plant, and performs related work as required.
Examples of duties include:
- Sweeps, mops, waxes and scrubs floors
- Dust, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles
- Washes windows and walls, cleans restrooms and classroom heaters and screens, sweeps sidewalks and play areas
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment
- Clean fountains
- Polishes metalwork
- Replaces light bulbs
- Replenishes supplies
- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows
- Reports the need for repairs
- Watches buildings to prevent vandalism
- Operates power cleaning equipment
- May do limited grounds maintenance work
- May make minor non-technical repairs

- None required
Knowledge of:
- Methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work
Skills in:
- Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions
- Using common cleaning equipment
- Doing manual work associated with custodial duties
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
