Custodian

Custodian Position

Ledyard Public Schools is looking to hire a dependable and skilled custodian. The ability to follow written and oral instructions while relating to students, staff and public in a courteous manner is required and experience with building cleaning, routine maintenance and groundskeeping is preferred. The position requirements include:

• Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to daily cleaning and building maintenance; including but not limited to operation of floor and restroom cleaning machines, waxing and stripping of floors and general cleaning and disinfecting
• Previous experience in custodial routines and procedures preferred
• Grounds keeping experience a plus
• Good interpersonal relationship skills
• Demonstrated record of reliable performance and attendance
• Ability to lift and carry objects of 25 - 50 lbs

Hours: Monday/Tuesday through Friday/Saturday, may include nights

Pay and benefits in accordance with Ledyard BOE and Local 1303 of Council #4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO agreement. Pay: $23.10 per hour Benefits to include: Medical, dental and vision coverage Paid time off 403(b) and 457 retirement plan with employer match

Physical Requirements of the Job: Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders Push/pull items such as tables, stacked chairs, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment
