Position Summary
Performs duties necessary to maintain cleanliness of campus buildings; assists in arranging furniture and equipment; maintains equipment and materials.
Primary Duties Performed
- Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness of campus buildings.
- Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, classrooms, and other assigned areas. May include sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, buffing and waxing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork and metalwork, cleaning and emptying waste receptacles, cleaning chalkboards and whiteboards, and washing windows; may clean vents and registers.
- Moves furniture, assists with meeting setup and breakdown, risers, staging and arranging furniture and equipment for special events; may set up or take down equipment when needed.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment, supplies and materials; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assists in examining campus for safety hazards; reports safety and/or fire hazards and maintenance deficiencies to appropriate manager.
- Reports needs and concerns to the appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- May assist Grounds during weather emergencies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and insurance
- Custodial experience is preferred.
- On call availability 24/7
- As needed: may work in extreme weather conditions and involve some exposure to hazards, physical risks, or unusual elements such as dust, fumes, smoke, or unpleasant odors, which may require following basic safety precautions.
- May require physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 10 feet.
- Ability to stoop, squat and bend.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
