Curriculum Coordinator - Secondary Math
Position Summary :
The Curriculum Coordinator supports increased student achievement and facilitates the transition to, and implementation of, rigorous and relevant standards in Mathematics for secondary school students.
Essential Duties:
- Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):
- Provides leadership in assigned curriculum, instruction, and assessment to teachers and building principals.
- Provides instructional support for the implementation of the Art and Science of Teaching instructional model.
- Coordinates the curriculum to ensure rigor and consistency from grade to grade and from building to building.
- Coordinates with elementary, middle, mid-high, and high school to ensure a well-articulated and well-coordinated curriculum.
- Works collaboratively with the special education department to improve achievement and opportunities for students with disabilities in the subject matter.
- Great People (Talent Management):
- Mentors new teachers and serves as a content expert for all teachers in the subject. Plans and conducts staff development as appropriate for teachers.
- Supports and provides technology training to enhance instruction.
- Models current research-based practices in meetings and classrooms.
- Great Culture (Systems Leaders):
- Assess the overall effectiveness of the curriculum. Initiates and directs improvements in the programs. Provides assistance and guidance in the selection of instructional materials and methods.
- Interfaces with AP coordinator, AP teachers, vertical team members, principals, and other staff to successfully implement the AP program, including AVID.
- Communicates with and obtains feedback from students, teachers, and administrators in a manner that enhances student learning.
- Works with instructional facilitators to promote curriculum alignment and focus.
- Facilitates the Curriculum Advisory Committee.
- Great Systems (Support & Accountability):
- Shares accountability for the improvement of student achievement.
- Assists with procedures pertaining to remediation and intervention programs.
- Leads data reviews, including data analysis and determination of appropriate interventions for students, including the response to Intervention (RTI) process.
- Recommends staff development based on the needs of the individual schools.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities):
- Masters' Degree in Mathematics or Curriculum/Instruction.
- Five (5) years of related experience and/or training.
- Commitment to raise student achievement.
- Evidence of successful leadership at the grade level, building level, or district level
- Evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of standards, curriculum mapping, and vertical articulation support
- Experience in conducting staff development
- Evidence of strong planning and organizational skills
- Experience in mentoring/coaching other teachers
- Knowledge of best practices and current research in successful programs, curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and assessment practices
- Knowledge of appropriate applications of technology
- Computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs.

Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on a computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material and perform other required duties.
- Requires a normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside normal business hours, including weekends, and sometimes under stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
- Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate-controlled environment.
- Will require time in the office, as well as external meeting locations with community partners or schools throughout the OKC metro area.
- May require participation in meetings and activities outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays.
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to bend and stoop, lift 25lbs, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
