CTE Program Specialist

The CTE Operations and Program Specialist serves as the district's primary day-to-day implementation leader for CTE operations, instructional follow-through, counselor alignment, work-based learning coordination support, reporting support, and program readiness across multiple sites and program areas. This role provides district implementation capacity below the executive level. It is intended to strengthen the consistency, continuity, and scalability of CTE work by providing a single district contact for programming support, logistics, communication, participation systems, and day-to-day follow-through.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a STEM related field
  • MDE Vocational Certification in one or more areas
  • Two years of recent and relevant work experience
  • Michigan Teaching certificate preferable Grades K-12
  • PLTW Engineering or Gateway Certification(s)

Essential Duties:

  • Support delegated instructional leadership for CTE teachers through classroom observations, coaching, feedback, evaluation support as assigned, and professional-learning coordination.
  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of program-of-study structures, curriculum alignment, pathway coherence, and operational consistency across buildings and program areas.
  • Supervise assigned CTE Career Development Counselors and support district implementation of career-development and career-advising systems.
  • Provide operational oversight for work-based learning structures, including internships, co-ops, youth apprenticeship, placement follow-through, and related communication systems, as assigned.
  • Support CTEIS documentation, performance monitoring, articulation agreements, dual-enrollment alignment, industry credential systems, and follow-up on data or reporting issues.
  • Coordinate with equipment, facilities, and operations support staff to maintain program readiness, continuity, and issue escalation.
  • Coordinate implementation of district CTE initiatives, enrichment opportunities, CTSO competitions, robotics-related activities, and other assigned student experiences.

Language Skills:

  • Read, write and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Add, subtract, and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.
  • Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person while performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as tools and equipment.
  • The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
